Hip Hop Club

Hip-Hop is a musical expression that started within African American and Latin American Communities. The phenomenon later spread to include many different cultures. Hip-Hop can be broken down into four parts: MC-ing, DJ-ing, Dancing, and Graffiti Arts. MC-ing can be described as a way the speaker voices poetic rhymes to a beat. This beat may consist of a lot of musical instruments and sounds, which is now widely accepted as “rapping.” A Hip-Hop DJ is someone who makes beats or puts two or more songs together, or a combination there of, to form a unique mix. Hip-Hop dancing has many forms from Turfing to B-boying. Graffiti includes writing or drawing that was originally sprayed on walls or public places to express someone’s name or dream to anybody who looked at it.

This outstanding club will get students involved to express the wide variety of talents at De Anza High School. Some goals for the club include a producing a school Talent Show, a rap battle for students, dance and art showcases and hosting a challenge with other local area schools to promote local high school area inspiration and creativity.

Hip-Hop Club meets in the ITCA lab after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
