De Anza High School
Visual & Performing Arts (VAPA)
Welcome to the Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA)
“A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.”
—Maya Angelou (1928–2014), American author, poet, singer, civil rights advocate, and recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom
De Anza High School offers students a rich Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) curriculum. Through performance, production, and the exploration of the arts, our VAPA classes serve as a place where students can experiment with material, make sense of the world, communicate their unique ideas and experiences, and discover who they are as individuals and as members of different groups.
At De Anza we offer three types of VAPA courses
Performing Arts
- Dance
- Music
- Theater
Visual Arts
- Art Studio
- Ceramics
- Video Production
Ceramics is a 3-D studio class using clay as a material for making art through basic ceramics and sculpture techniques, and the pottery wheel.
Art history, elements of art, and principles of design are covered through drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, and the basics of digital design.
